The '''Barony of Stormhold''' is a [[SCA]] [[groups|branch]] in the [[Kingdom of Lochac]]. It covers central, western and northern [[Melbourne]], [[Australia]] plus Western Victoria, being the oldest group in the state. The [[Barony]] has two [[Canton]]s . The [[Canton of Dubh Thrian]] covers the northern suburbs while the [[Canton of Caern Fail]] covers Ballarat, Bendigo, the Golden Triangle and the Surf Coast. The [[College of St Bartholomew]] is based at the [[University]] of Melbourne. The [[Shire of Arrowsreach]] and the [[Shire of Krae Glas]] were formerly cantons of the barony.

After the sudden departure of the last Baron and Baroness, Sir Hugh the Little & Baroness Therasa Commins, Miriam Galbraith was appointed as [[vicar]].

The '''Kingdom of Lochac''' comprises all [[SCA]] [[groups]] in [[Australia]] and [[New Zealand]] (as of Lochac [[May Crown]], [[2003]]).

The Australian groups were previously the [[Principality of Lochac]], part of the [[Kingdom of the West]]. The New Zealand groups were formerly part of the [[Kingdom of Caid]].

The name ''Lochac'' comes from the writings of [[Marco Polo]], where he catalogs the lands to the south. Lochac is described as a land south of Java with a sovereign king. Late [[16th century|sixteenth century]] [[map]]s can be found with Luchac, Beach and Maletur forming part of a large mainland area in the position of [[Western Australia]].

When the [[SCA]] groups in a region fulfill [[kingdom|certain criteria]] (as specified by [[Corpora]]), they can become a [[kingdom]], provided sufficient [[member]]s wish to do so. This occurred in [[Australia]] in July [[2002]].

As of August [[2005]], the [[seneschal]] of the Kingdom of Lochac is [[Emrys Tudur]] and the [[King]] and [[Queen]] are [[Cornelius von Becke]] and [[Morwenna Branwynt]].

==History==
Founded originally as the Incipient Shire of Les Jardin des Dieux in [[A.S. VIII]] (1973) as an offshoot of the [[Barony of Caerthe]] and a branch of the [[Kingdom of Atenveldt]]. It was soon renamed Dragonsspine and in [[A.S. X]] the [[Shire]] was granted official status. It was raised to the status of Barony in [[A.S. XIV]] lead by Baroness Caitlin Caslean an Bharraigh.
