The '''East''' was the second [[Kingdom]] in the [[SCA]]. Geographically it covers eastern Pennsylvania, eastern New York, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine in the USA as well as Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland in Canada.

The Barony Of Rowany is the [[SCA]] name for most of Sydney, Australia.

Rowany was named after [[Mistress Rowan]] who, was the first [[Pelican]] in [[Lochac]], and also the second [[Laurel]] and did a lot of work to get the SCA started in Australia.

The current [[Baron]] and [[Baroness]] are Hrothgar von Roani & Helene de la Puy

There are two colleges within the boundaries of the Barony:
* The [[College of St Augustine]]: University of New South Wales
* The [[College of St Ursula]]: University of Sydney

The [[Canton of Stowe on the Wowld]] covers the Western Suburbs of Sydney.
[[Agaricus]] lies to the South West of Sydney, although, being a shire, is not governed by the Barony of Rowany. The [[Shire of Colles Ardorum]] covers the region south of Sydney, around Wollongong, and encompasses the [[College of St Malachy]] (University of Wollongong).

The Barony Of Rowany is the [[SCA]] name for most of Sydney, Australia.

The emphasis on large swathes of [[fabric]] which was a feature of the 15th century transformed into an emphasis on tailored garments, with padded and boned undergarments to create the fashionable figure. In the last half of the 16th century styles became more international as the [[Habsburg]] dynasty came to rule over most of western Europe and therefore affected the styles across the continent.

Some of the more commonly recognised styles are:

One of the few requirements of attendance at an [[SCA]] event is that you ''attempt to wear pre-17th century clothing''. In the [[SCA]] some use the term '''Garb''' to differentiate all forms of medieval clothing from modern clothing.

Medieval clothing takes a variety of forms according to [[period]] and culture.
The choice of [[fabric]] is important in getting something comfortable and with the right look. Just because some fabric was available in some place at some time in period, does not mean it was universally available.

If you're a [[newbie]] you can arrange for someone, such as the [[hospitaller]] or [[gold key]] to lend you garb for your first few [[event]]s until you have your own garb. It could be something as simple a [[t-tunic]] or as elaborate as an [[Elizabethan]] [[farthingale]].

If you can't sew, you can always find plenty of people to help you. If you don't want to sew, you can always pay someone to make it for you, or offer whatever [[trade]] or skill you have in exchange for garb.

Other really simple items of garb you can make are [[pants]], [[dress]] and [[skirt]]s!
