Due to the fact it can hold alcohol, the Book is often referred to as "spirited" - apt, considering the college has historically had strong ties with drinking culture. The college is also known for being intensely humble - they're just superior to everyone else in that way.

After a brief period of war in A.S.56 (see: [[Inter-College War]] XXV), the two colleges signed a peace treaty, and have been friends ever since. In acknowledgement of Blessed Herman proving the superior force in battle, the clause was added that the banners of St Christina cannot be larger than the average size of Blessed Herman banners. The College of Blessed Herman the Cripple is an SCA College in the Barony of Innilgard in the Kingdom of Lochac. It is based at the University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia. As the first College and one of the first groups established in Lochac, it has a very old and rich history. Hagiography

Blessed Herman the Cripple was a mathematician, musician and monk. He was considered to be a genius, yet his parents gave him to the church as a child because he was so horribly crippled and was therefore no use for working in the fields.
